Rouse yourselves, because we will need all your enthusiasm.
Organize yourselves, because we will need all your strength.
Educate yourselves, because we will need all your intelligence.
Antonio Gramsci

We are wondering and researching on how we can create art with the community.
How we can create paths of participated beauty.
How we can keep together (and confuse, mix up, interlace) theatre, citizenship, poetry, spectators and those who are not – or not yet – spectators, in one single, great, organic, creative process.
How we can produce a show written in collaboration with everybody and that can potentially be played by everybody.
How theatre, one theatre, can become the space for relationship, listening, mutual knowledge, not only between audience members and artists, but, universally speaking, among human beings, members of the same community, citizens.
That’s how Le Parole e la Città (The Words and the City, winner of Nico Garrone Award 2015 and finalist of Ubu Award 2015) was created.
With the same engagement, the same look, we’re now imagining Futuri Maestri.

We’ve asked to all major local cultural institutions to open their doors and work with us.
But, above all, starting from October 2015 and until June 2017, we’ve got and will get into dozens and dozens of classrooms in our local area, city, region and beyond, into schools of all types and levels to ask thousands of schoolboys and girls what they think of the world they live in and how they would like to change it. We are asking them what raises their indignation and what attracts them, what scares and what moves them and for what they are willing to make sacrifices.

Love, War, Work, Crisis, Migration. Here are some words to start with.

Then we will ask them to help us write their script, their love letter, their accusation.
Finally, we’ll invite them, from June 3rd to 11th 2017, to share the stage with us.
A stage that will resemble a parliament, an amphitheatre, a court.
A stage with 1000 children’s voices ready to whisper, or cry to our ears, their idea of themselves and their future.

Five Words Five Visions
March 26th 2017, 15.30 | MAMbo (Via Don Minzoni 14, Bologna)
with Silvia Spadoni, script by Bruno Stori

The Museum of Modern Art of Bologna opens its doors to inaugurate the installation inspired by the five project keywords (love, war, work, crisis, migration), created by the children of Primary School De Amicis in Bologna, guided by MAMbo Educational Department. The young artists’ work will be the starting point to tell all the audience how these five themes have been interpreted by the great artists in 1900. Silvia Spadoni, teacher at Bologna Accademia di Belle Arti and curator of the Educational Department, will be the protagonist of this charming narration.
The audience will then have the opportunity of freely visit the museum permanent collection.

Literary Camping with Michela Murgia
April 2nd 2017, 17.00, Mediateca di San Lazzaro (Via Caselle 22, San Lazzaro di Savena)
with Michela Murgia and Teatro dell’Argine’s artists

We asked the Italian writer Michela Murgia two things: to tell us what her favourite tales and novels inspired to the five project keywords (love, war, work, crisis, migration) are and to come and meet the Future Masters, their parents and the whole citizenship, to tell them how these words can be interpreted starting from her own novel Chirù. San Lazzaro Mediateca, a very special multimedia library, will be transformed into a large camping site, with many circles of telling, each one involving kids and teens of different ages (3-5 years old, 6-8 years old, 9-10 years old, 11-13 years old, 14-18 years old). While Michela Murgia is talking to the adult audience, Teatro dell’Argine’s actors and actresses will read the tales suggested by the writer to the young audience. The two audiences will finally meet for a common session with the guest.

The Floor to Roberto Saviano
April 21st 2017, 18.30, Pala Yuri (Via della Repubblica 4, San Lazzaro di Savena)
with Roberto Saviano

Roberto Saviano will dedicate a special letter to the Future Masters and to all those who would like to participate, spectators and citizens: love, war, work, crisis, migration will be the five starting points, five cornerstones, five keys to open up worlds. A unique occasion to listen to the world known author of Gomorra and see how he’s going to answer to the suggestions and questions asked by the young.

Workshops

Workshops and special activities in schools and institutions
by Teatro dell’Argine, Teatro Comunale, MAMbo, Altre Velocità, Emilia Maria Chiara Petri, Centro Documentazione Handicap - Accaparlante

The path leading to the show Futuri Maestri is full of discoveries, activities and workshops for the kids and teens involved. In parallel with the creation of the show, the Future Masters have had the opportunity to take part for free to different processes intended for pre-schools and for primary and secondary schools. The aim was to make the young approach the different arts in their different contexts, thanks to the expert guide of artists and to the collaboration with schools.

45 workshops of theatre, music, singing, visual arts, writing, cinema, journalism and critics were realized, guided by 36 artists and cultural workers in collaboration with 56 teachers.
The workshops involved 73 classes and groups in 32 schools or in the partner institutions: more than 1,500 kids and teens from 3 to 18 years old.

Two hundred and two playwrights
by Teatro dell’Argine
Starting from theatre season 2015-2016, many teenagers of Bologna metropolitan area were involved in workshops about Teatro dell’Argine’s show La Terra vista dalla Luna, whose keywords were the same as those of Futuri Maestri: love, war, work, crisis, migration. During season 2016-2017, the young playwrights have had the opportunity to reflect and work on an ongoing project and on a show under construction, and to actively participate by giving their own contribution, both by expressing ideas and by writing.

Present Spectators and Future Journalists
The workshop on critics, the editorial staff and the web radio
by Altre Velocità, Teatro Comunale Laura Betti di Casalecchio, Teatro dell’Argine
The collective of theatre critics Altre Velocità designed specifically for Future Masters a workshop in two sessions: the first one is meant to train new theatre spectators; the second one is intended to give the young participants the tools of journalism and critics.
This path has given life to a staff of young writers, designers, journalists, bloggers following the final steps of the creation of the show Future Masters with the aim of creating a newspaper containing journals, interviews to the protagonists, drawings.
Besides, in collaboration with Teatro Comunale Laura Betti di Casalecchio and High School Leonardo da Vinci, the experience Laura&Leo radio will be repeated: a staff composed by boys and girls, who will tell about the project events through the media of radio and comics.
